From McMullen Levin Shirt Factory to an Organic Art Space
The Evolution of The Shirt Factory
Built in 1902 as the new home of the McMullen Levin Shirt Factory, which operated here for over nine decades. The Troy Shirt Makers Guild produced high-end men’s shirts, while the McMullen label specialized in women’s fashion dresses. However, the factory closed its doors for good in 1996. With the current owner’s purchase of the property in 1999, the space embarked on a new adventure, transforming into a dynamic, ever-changing, and growing organic space.
Nowadays, The Shirt Factory houses a diverse mix of artists, small businesses, and indie shops, making it a hub for creative individuals and entrepreneurs alike. Over the years, various events have emerged within this community space, offering unique experiences for all.
From all-encompassing events that take over all four floors to those that showcase individual studios or floors, The Shirt Factory hosts several events throughout the year. Details of each event are specified, with outdoor events found under the Shirt Factory Campus venue.
With two parking lots at 19 Cooper Street and 73 Lawrence Street, access to The Shirt Factory is convenient. Moreover, the entrance inside the 73 Lawrence Street parking lot is handicap accessible, ensuring equal access for everyone.
